Basic "About the Comic":The comic is actually a prequel to a story Ry (artist/author) scripted in a writing camp. The story was based on Earth, in modern day, but the monster came from another planet. As Ry started thinking about the monster, he started to consider what happened to it and how it got to be what it was. And thus, Wings of a God was born.
For over 2.5 years he's known were the story was going to go, so unfortunately it will end at one point. This point is in the very far away future.
Creation Process, aka "How do you do this?": A large variety of ways for each individual page. If anyone shows interest in some of the earlier methods, I may explain those. At the moment, this is the basics:
- First I write an overview of what I want to happen in a chapter and script each page. This should happen before I start the chapter, but I didn't actually do it until around page 2-9
-Next I sketch out the layout for the page, to get panel shape and layout and such.
-Now I get to the actual drawing. Right now I use a number 2 pencil (non-mechanical) on copy paper then ink with microns. I use a ruler to draw the edges, but sometimes fix those up in photoshop.
-Scan it, fix up the line art in photoshop, I then use BPelt filters to help put down the base colors (copy your lineart to a new layer to do this!) and do shading with an airbrush. I put up a basic Tutorial on how I color hair, though it's a bit different for this comic.
The airbrush shading and using photoshop is the one constant.
About the Author, aka "Narcissism": Ry is a kid who just graduated highschool and isn't quite ready to be an adult or a college student. He has been drawing comics since at least the 2nd grade, originally one panel things with mouse stick figures or involving numbers on adventures (4th grade math was a tad boring). He became interested in webcomics almost 4 years ago, and currently reads over 50.
He's planning on going into either paleontology (with dinosaurs!) or forensics, but hopes to never quit comicking.
